Breastfeeding Information
Our Passion for Breastfeeding
We recognize that many women in Southeast Texas, for one reason or
another did not or do not breastfeed their child(ren), despite a real
desire to be successful.

It is our position that one of the major contributing factors to low
breastfeeding rates in our area is that there is virtually no local support
for breastfeeding mothers. Often the information that breastfeeding
mothers get comes from someone who has no personal breastfeeding
experience and little to no direct lactation education.

We further recognize that the decision to breastfeed is highly personal
and many mothers have had negative experiences regarding certain
aspects of breastfeeding.  Though we do actively promote breastfeeding,
it is not our intent to foster or contribute to an adversarial relationship
with mothers or with their health care professionals whose experience or
basic philosophy on this issue differ from ours. Our main objective is to
help women who want to be successful at breastfeeding by providing a
community of support to encourage them towards that goal.

Breastfeeding is at the core of and is one of the central themes in the
Whole Mothering Center Program. We would be doing our community a
disservice and not being true to our mission if we tip-toed around the
facts surrounding our core beliefs.
